Shell Bean's Litany

Litany

By Shell Bean

You are the air and the wind,
the sweet memories and the flame.
You are the aroma of the morning roses
and the inspiration of the brain.
You are the sunshine in the cold winter
and the bright rainbow after the rain.

However, you are not the fantasy from the artist,
the star in the darkness,
or the shell under the sea.
And you are certainly not the halter of the gharry.
There is just no way you are the halter of the gharry.

It is possible that you are the flower in the garden,
Maybe even the chuckle of the children,
but you are not even close
to being the fallen leaf on the ground in autumn.

And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither the water in freezing
nor the rock in melting.

It might interest you to know,
Speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I am the whistle of the boat.

I also happen to be the lonely traveler,
the silence dust in outer space,
and the falling kite in the sky.

I am also the breath in air
and the whisper in wind.
But don't worry, I am not the air and the wind.
You are still the air and the wind.
You will always be the air and the wind,
not to mention the sweet memories and -somehow- the flame.
